Falling Flat in the Seltzer Aisle

There was something fizzy going on at Stop & Shop on Broadway tonight. I wanted to get a case of Polar Seltzer. When I arrived to the seltzer aisle, there was a bloody mary mix display blocking the Polar brand, but the Stop & Shop brand, Zazz, was left in clear view. I tried to push the bloody mary mixes aside; however, I felt like the stand might tip over. I also didn't feel like crawling into the bottom shelf to grab a case of Polar. In the end, I just took the Zazz brand, but left the store a little annoyed. There's really no difference between the store brand and Polar's seltzer, it's just that I grew up drinking Polar and that's what I like to buy. I don't think it's fair of Stop & Shop to box out the competitor's brand to push their own products.

I, for one, am glad that Stop & Shop kept you from buying the premium brand. There is no discernible difference between Polar and Zazz. It's not like it's Kobe beef. It's just seltzer.

This from a person who makes me buy him specific brands of peanut butter, whole wheat sandwich bread and iceberg (not romaine!) lettuce.

Ha! You're the one who buys a specific brand of organic peanut butter. All I'm asking for is plain peanut butter rather than that organic stuff you buy. You also won't eat anything but Arnold whole wheat bread, which is very high in calories. And iceberg lettuce is for sandwiches, not a substitute for romaine.

MY WIFE drinks Zazz. Are you impugning MY WIFE's taste in seltzer?

Just kidding. We buy it because it's cheaper. However, there are major differences in peanut butter. Organic? Yuck. I want mine with sugar as the second ingredient. And not corn syrup. I mean sugar!

(I could do without the partially hydrogenated oils, but you win some and you lose some.)

Well, Polar is a Massachusetts company, so I'm doing my part by drinking locally. Polar should actually hire me to do sales, because no one loves their seltzer more than me. I could sell their products to a someone with a naturally occurring seltzer spring in their backyard.

I agree with Alicia on this one Nick. Polar is much better and Alicia can eat whatever kind of bread she wants; she is the last person to worry about calories. And it is debatable about iceburg lettuce for sandwiches; romaine is great on them too. Some things I'm with you, but not on this.

hahaha, that's not what he meant about the bread. he wanted the lo-cal for himself. watch out, Nick- you may be getting coal in your stocking this year from my mom.
