I'm a 36 year old librarian who loves to run, read, do yoga and hang out with my friends and family. I ran the 2008 & 2009 Boston Marathon for Team Eye & Ear to support the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Go Team Eye & Ear!

I don't know a lot about troubleshooting my PC, but...
Something tells me this is a bad sign. Help! Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T
Not necessarily. There are Trojans out there that masquerade as anti-Trojans (bastards!). For the most part, they exist only to get you to send them money; don't necessarily harm your computer otherwise. Go to Lavasoft and download their free version of Adaware and run that first.
Hello, thank you guys for the tips. Yeah, the poor grammar was a good hint not to click on anything, unfortunately, the computer has completely frozen and I'm having trouble even getting it to run in safe mode. Geek Squad recommended wiping out the hard drive and starting from scratch since our files are backed up...
Unfortunately, your best bet will probably be to get a good backup of your important data, wipe the hard drive, and start over. Some of those trojans are wicked hard to get rid of. Sucks, but even with AVG and Ad-Aware, you might not be able to get rid of this, and it will take you less time in the long run to reload from scratch.
(If you need help, send me an e-mail, I do this stuff for a living.)
Hi B, I think that's what we'll end up doing (or rather what my husband will end up doing once he gets back from his trip) We noticed something was up with the computer a few days ago, and back ups have already been created, so that's good.
